Hard Rock Cafe review: using the Entertainer App

I love using the Entertainer App’s 1-for-1 by HSBC. Through the App, diners can get discounts from participating restaurants: sometimes its a 25% off, and at other times it’s a 1-for-1 deal.

Entertainer App featuring 1-for-1 mains at Hard Rock Cafe

The Restaurant

The family and myself (two adults, two kids) love to come here on the occasional weekend. The reason: Hard Rock Cafe is not crowded.

Considering that its the Orchard / Tanglin area on a weekend, the lack of crowds is truly refreshing. I suspect that the somewhat higher prices at Hard Rock Cafe (around SGD40+ per main here is common) may have turned people off – 100% understandable, given that we would not have dined here either if it weren’t for the Entertainer App by HSBC.

Stage Area

At the back of the restaurant – is the stage for late night performances.

Menu

Hard Rock Cafe serves a reasonable range of typically Western fare. They are most known for their burgers, but they also serve ribs and classic western mains such as Fish and Chips.

Check out their full online menu menu right here.

Do note that servings here can be pretty huge – so each main dish is A LOT of food. So while the prices are on the higher side, the portions do reflect the food volume as well.

Colouring for Kids

Both our kids were given colouring activities and crayons. It’s awesome because stuff like that always gets kids excited (and keeps them occupied). Always a win for parents!

Child activity and colouring sheet

In this Hard Rock Cafe review, I gotta say I love how smart this is. Flip over the activity sheet to reveal the very colourful child menu.

We didn’t order anything for the kids in the end – the servings at Hard Rock Cafe are large enough that our kids simply ate off the parents’ mains. But of course, the option is there if its preferred that the kids have their own separate meal.

Western Classics

Our food soon arrived.

1-for-1 mains 🙂 🙂 🙂

Hard Rock Cafe is known for their burgers. The husband loves his burgers, and he went for the Spicy Diablo Burger.

Spicy Diablo Burger

Two smashed and stacked beef burger patties are seasoned and seared medium-well, with Monterey Jack cheese, pickled jalapeños, leaf lettuce, vine-ripened tomato, and spicy mayonnaise.

As usual, juicy, flavourful, and slightly greasy – but in a good way.

Sinful but worth it

I wasn’t super hungry that day, and given that my meal would be shared with the two small children, the easy idiot-proof option was to go with Fish and Chips.

Fish and Chips

We had two fillets of sea bass, dipped in their in-house special batter, and deep-fried to a golden brown. It is served with seasoned fries and citrus coleslaw. Generally, extremely well-fried. Fish was a bit on the plain side but the batter was super crispy and kids loved it.

Overall: Hard Rock Cafe

Again, the prices here are slightly higher than a mid-range restaurant, but servings are larger as well so it was fair. Those with smaller appetities should definitely consider sharing.

Personally, given that I’ve visited here a few times (see previous review here), I would say that Hard Rock Cafe is better known for their MEAT – their Burgers and Ribs are definitely better than their salads and Fish and Chips. Go, if you’re real hungry and/or feeling carnivorous.
