Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur Sentral

In my past few blogposts – I’ve chronicled how  a friend and I took a trip around Kuala Lumpur (KL), and we stayed at a bunch of hotels there, including Hilton KL, Four Points by Sheraton in Chinatown, Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral, and of course, here at Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur.

From Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), one can easily take the KLIA Express train to KL Sentral.

Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur is a stone’s throw away from KL Sentral station.

Le Meridien and Hilton sharing the same entrance – they are literally neighbours.

Lobby, Check in, Room Upgrade

The lobby area was nothing short of impressive.

Comfy seats in the waiting areas

At the time of stay, I had booked the Guest Room (Twin) with 25,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. This was made possible by with my American Express Platinum Charge card. The card gives me Elite Gold status; as such, I had been earning Marriott Bonvoy points at an accelerated rate and had accumulated enough to redeem this stay.

Other perks inlucded possible room upgrade (subject to availability), and 2pm late checkout.

My friend and I got lucky – I was upgraded from the Guest Room Twin (30 square meters) to the Larger Guest Room Twin (32 square meters), and the staff informed me that we were placed on a higher floor as well. Score!

Fun fact: there is a charging station for devices in the lobby. Very useful and practical.

Armed with our key cards, my friend and I made our way to our room.

Larger Guest Room Twin

And here we are.

Larger Guest Room Twin

Front view

As expected of a hotel such as Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur, the room felt modern and comfortable. Equipped with an arm chair, smaller coffee tables, workdesk area, coffee and tea facilities, wardrobe, and TV.

Overview

The safe is located at the workdesk area. Spot the white box:

Near the entrance is the wardrobe, completed with mirrors that double up as sliding doors.

Bathrobe inside

The self-serve coffee and tea facilities are sufficient. I’ll admit I was slightly disappointed at the lack of a nespresso machine and capsules; personally I considered Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur to be of a similar standard to Hilton next door, and Hilton’s rooms did carry the nespresso facilities.

Coffee and Tea facilities

At the time of our stay, we were on the 18th floor. From the window, we had a very nice view of the huge kickass swimming pool below.

Large shared pool between Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur and Hilton Kuala Lumpur

At night, the view is just as impressive.

Pool at night

Bathroom

The bathroom was simple but it had a sleek modern design. We loved the marbled look.

The shower was delightful – see how there is a seat in there too.

Towels under the sink

On the other side is the toilet, behind the sliding glass door.

Love the shelves in the wall – great for holding stuff. I put my cosmetics and skincare there.

Overall, it is a beautiful but highly functional bathroom layout. Does the job, aesthetically pleasing, and great for the practical person.

Swimming Pool

The gym and the massive swimming pool is shared with Hilton KL next door, and I’ve posted about the pools at my past stays at Hilton here (Twin Deluxe Room) and here (Grand Executive Suite). So do check those out for more pool or gym pictures.

This time, my friend and I decided to go swim at NIGHT, and boy were were in for a treat.

Soft Lights and Water

It was devastatingly romantic.

Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral review

I could be lost in these waters forever

When we swam here, it felt like there was a soft glow around us (I know it’s just lighting, but man the ambience was real).

Glow in the dark

Even the waterfall and slide had possessed the glowy lights effect.

Whoa

We whizzed down the slide and stood under that waterfall, and our lives were complete.

(I’m joking of course, but yes, we truly felt peace and satisfaction right there).

Breakfast at Latest Recipe

The breakfast buffet is located at Latest Recipe, located on level 5.

Pro-Tip: If you want the buffet breakfast, inform the front desk by 10pm the night BEFORE. If you do so, the rate is RM 55++ per adult.

However, if one simply walks in without prior notice, the rate becomes RM 88++ per adult.

I’m not quite sure why – it could be that the restaurant has visitors who aren’t hotel guests and they charge everyone the same rate at entry.

(Note: this was simply our experience at the time of stay – for the latest policy, always check with the hotel!)

Entrance to Latest Recipe

Though, if one does snag the buffet for RM 55++ – that is a super good deal (If you’re Singaporean, that’s not even SGD 17++). So I highly recommend it; that price for an international spread is just unbeatable, especially if you’re from Singapore.

Very impressive tiered shelves of goodies

On these refrigerated shelves, there was…

Olives, Deli Meats, Smoked Salmon, Mini Sliders

Assortment of Drinks

Fruit and Yogurt

And you know what – all the food shown so far was JUST the stuff from the refrigerated shelving area. There is so much more to see inside…

One of the many tables

Going in – there is more stuff to take in and enjoy. Such as…

Breads…

Well, a LOT of breads…

Noodle Station…

Stereotypical Warm Breakfasty Stuff – eggs, ham, beans, sausages…

Cereals and Compotes…

Indian and Curry corner…

Salad Corner…

A whole lot of Cheese…

And sushi…

Folks – the food here was so good, with so many choices. Don’t sleep in guys – wake up for the food. It’s 100% worth it.

Needless to say, my friend and I were STUFFED.

Overall thoughts

The 2D1N stay we had at Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur was amazing. We loved it and gosh, if there ever was another chance, we’d definitely return in a heartbeat.

Similar to Hilton KL, the swimming pool and the buffet breakfast were all winners and made our stay enjoyable. I’d honestly be hard pressed to choose between the two.

10/10 highly recommended.

Thank you Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur!
