American Express Credit Card

If you do not yet own an American Express credit card, this is the perfect time to apply for one. Between now and 31st March 2022, there’s some very attractive sign-up perks for new applicants of the following American Express credit cards.

Platinum Charge Card

I’ve spoken about the American Express Platinum Charge card so much on this blog – it’s benefits cannot be understated. My absolute favourite are the Love Dining benefits allow diners to eat in at a number of reputable hotels (Hotel Dining Guide here!)  and several high-end restaurants (Restaurant Dining Guide Here!) at up to 50% off. It also gives elite statuses in four major hotel programmes (Marriott, Hilton, Radisson, and Discovery), and has an additional Fine Hotels and Resorts (FHR) benefits – I’ve used FHR benefits for a stay at Shangri-La Singapore with my family, feel free to check it out right here.

Current Sign-up bonuses

TLDR summary: new Platinum Charge Card applicants can get up to 120,000 Membership rewards points, and a massage chair.

• Referral Bonus: Apply through any of my referral links on this blog, and get 20,000 bonus Membership Rewards points – with a minimum spend criteria of SGD 5000 within the first three months of card ownership. Platinum Credit Card

The Platinum Credit card (annal fee: SGD 1712) is NOT to be confused with the Platinum Charge card (annual fee: SGD 321).

Like the Platinum Charge card, it has Love Dining benefits and Chillax perks (which gives card holders 1-for-1 and complimentary drinks at selected hand-picked nightspots in Singapore). However, the benefits are mainly food and drink only on this card – unlike the Platinum Charge Card, there are no extensive hotel benefits or airport lounge allowances.

Current Sign-up bonuses

TLDR summary: new Platinum credit card applicants can receive up to SGD150 in statement credits, plus a complimentary 3D2N stay at Conrad Centennial Singapore (Deluxe Room).

• Referral Bonus: Apply through any of my referral links on this blog, and get a SGD50 statement credit when you spend SGD2,000 in the first 3 months of Card ownership. This is in addition to all other bonuses. If you apply directly from the American Express website, without using a referral link, you will NOT receive this SGD50 bonus statement credit.

The American Express Singapore Airlines Krisflyer Ascend Credit Card (annual fee: SGD 337.05) is an awesome general spending card – if you value Krisflyer miles.

Card holders enjoy an earn rate of 1.2 Krisflyer miles for every S$1 spent on eligible purchases, and the rate goes up to 2 Krisflyer miles for every S$1 spent on eligible purchases made on singaporeair.com, SingaporeAir mobile app, silkair.com and KrisShop (in-flight and online), with no maximum cap/

There is also an opportunity for an accelerated upgrade to Krisflyer Elite Gold membership tier. Spend S$15,000 on the card at singaporeair.com in the first 12 months upon card approval, and Krisflyer Elite Gold will be yours.
