How to get Hotel Cashback

To snag these American Express Hotel Promotions, card holders must

(i) Log into the AMEX app or online accounts to Save The Offer and

(ii) Hit spending tier at participating hotels. Do be careful with this – several hotels specify that the spend must be made ‘in person’ – so doing a fully paid online booking would disqualify you.

Hotel discounts will be credited to card holders in the form of a cashback.

Pro Tip: if you have more than one American Express credit card, you can save ALL of these to each card, subject to availability. For me, I have THREE cards – The Platinum Charge card, the Platinum Reserve Card, and the Singapore Airlines Krisflyer Ascend Card – and ALL three cards show that these promotions are available).

My personal recommendation for best use – stack this promotion with Love Dining benefits – after all, with Love Dining, in the best-deal scenario, two adults can already dine at 50% off.

Hotels in the above list with Love Dining benefits includes: Courtyard by Marriott Singapore Novena (Sky 22), Marriott Tangs Plaza Singapore (Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant), St. Regis Singapore (Brasserie Les Saveurs, Drawing Room, Yan Ting), and W Hotel (Skirt, The Kitchen Table, WOOBAR) all qualify for Love Dining perks.

Alternatively, a staycation is also a good idea. My family and I have stayed at the St. Regis Singapore, and it’s one of the best staycations that we’ve had to date (So far, only the Capella Singapore is considered a worthy rival).

My personal recommendation: Firstly, American Express Platinum Charge Card holders already get Elite status (Platinum) with DISCOVERY (The Pan Pacific Hotel Rewards programme) – so qualifying spend on regular days already earn members 6% back on Discovery dollars.

Platinum members also get 20% off for dining and spa treatments on a regular days. Stack up the discount with this cashback for an even sweeter deal.

Four Seasons Hotel Singapore: Spend S$400 or more, get S$80 back

I personally can’t think of any way to stack a special discount in addition to this one. However, Four Seasons currently advertises up to 20% off their Room Rate when you book your stay at least 7 days in advance. Advanced planning is recommended. And having said that, an S$80 cashback from a S$400 spend is 20% off, which is comparable for a hotel as reputable as Four Seasons.

I can’t really say much about these hotels or their dining establishments – I haven’t been to any of them myself. However I have heard good things about M Social – they are known for their elegantly-designed Loft rooms, so it’s worth a staycation if one wants something more unconventional. Plus, getting S$50 off S$250 is a 20% discount.

Wyndham: Spend S$300 or more, get S$75 back

There is only one participating property here

The offer is valid till 30th June 2022.

Getting S$75 off the S$300 spending criteria is akin to a 25% discount –  which is great, and comparable to all the other discounts listed here so far.

In this list – I would say that this is in fact one of the cheaper accomodations, with the City View rooms having a starting price of SGD 170 per night. A two-night stay would just about hit the threshold for the S$300 spend criteria.

Overall American Express Hotel Promotions Commentary

This isn’t the first time that American Express has offered hotel discounts. Periodically, such deals do appear – around the 3rd quarter of 2021, I’ve written a similar piece on a list of Hotel Discounts offered by Amex as well.

also seen equally attractive promotions for Waldorf Astoria and Conrad. Likewise, Hilton Hotels do repeatedly have similar offers. I love being surprised – opening the app to find good offers here and there absolutely makes my day – and it’s one of the reasons why I highly recommend American Express.
