I love American Express Promotions.
But then again, who doesn’t?
In September 2020, , I blogged about how American Express has offered its Platinum Charge Card holders a complimentary SGD350 worth of dining credits. Following that came additional blog posts on the various hotel deals (Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, and more!) and other dining and shopping perks.

It honestly looks like as Singapore aims to open up the economy, more retailers are trying to entice customers to jump on the shopping bandwagon.
And today, here are the latest American Express Promotions that can be found on the app:
Various American Express Promotions
To snag these shopping cashback discounts, American Express cardholders must
(i) Log into the AMEX app or online accounts to Save The Offer and
(ii) Spend at participating locations
The credits will be credited to card holders in the form of a cashback.
Pro Tip: if you have more than one American Express credit card, you can save ALL of these to each card, subject to availability. For me, I have THREE cards – The Platinum Charge card, the Platinum Reserve Card, and the Singapore Airlines Krisflyer Ascend Card – and ALL three cards show that these American Express promotions are available.

Things to Note:
(i) The promotion is for in-person puchases only. Online purchases do not count.
(ii) Offer is valid till 21/11/2021.
NET-A-PORTER
American Express Promotions: Spend at NET-A-PORTER and get 15% back. Cashback is capped at a maximum of S$300 per registered American Express credit card.
Things to Note:
(i) Only valid for puchases shipped to Singapore and paid for in US Dollars. Payment will be converted to Singapore Dollars based on the rate aof exchange at the time the card is charged.
(ii) Puchases have to be made on https://www.net-a-porter.com/en-sg, and excludes purchases made at Mr Porter, Yoox, and The Outnet.

American Express Promotion: Spend S$100 or more, get S$20 back, up to two times
Things to Note:

Participating retailers include most merchants at the following malls: Forum The Shopping Mall, ION Orchard, Ngee Ann City, Paragon, and TANGS at Tang Plaza.
Things to Note:
(i) The promotion is for in-person puchases only. Online purchases do not count.
(ii) Not ALL stores are listed as participating Merchants. In particular, TANGS only has 3 participating stores: Hour Glass, Dancing Fish, and Salad Stop.
Example: eor those who think that this is a great time to get a Chanel bag from Ngee Ann City, sorry but Chanel is not a participating merchant in this promotion. However, Dior and Louis Vuitton (both Ion and Ngee Ann City) are included in this promotion. Do check out if a specific store is part of this before splurging wildly.
(iii) Offer is valid till 31/10/2021
Marks and Spencer
American Express Promotions: Spend S$100 or more, get S$10 back – up to two times.
Things to Note:
(i) The promotion applies to both in-person puchases and purchass made via the Marks and Spencer SG app. Online purchases do not count.
(ii) Excludes the Marks and Spencer outlet at Changi City Point

Which Amex card should I get?
Personally, I always recommend the American Express Platinum Charge card – it’s my favourite card to date as the benefits (for dining, hotels, travel, and more) are pretty hard to rival.

At the very least, I love how American Express randomly throws in shopping and dining promotions, or offers hotel discounts/rebates every now and then (check this post out for deals at Hilton, Marriott Bonvoy, Hyatt, and more!) – it’s awesome to check the app sometimes and see that a surprise is waiting for you. It is one of the reasons why I love the American Express credit cards so much – and I recommend ANYONE to get one of these cards if they can.
If you just want a card purely for dining benefits only (particularly for the Love Dining benefits – where one can dine at hotels or eat at high end restaurants at up to 50% off). the regular Platinum credit card (not platinum charge card works perfectly.
Alternatively, the Amex Krisflyer cards work well as general spending cards – they are a great way to accumulate Krisflyer miles.
