- Hilton Honors – Elite Gold Status: points earned
Hilton Kuala Lumpur: Grand Executive Suite
I’ve stayed at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur a few times, and have even written about my previous stays here.
And then I realised, it’s been FIVE years since then. Where did the time go?!?!
I guess it’s about time for another stay at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur.
Hotels in KL Sentral
If one lands in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), taking the KLIA Express train leads straight to KL Sentral.
This area is surrounded by a good number of hotels – St. Regis Kuala Lumpur, Aloft, Le Meridien, and Hilton – in fact, take one LRT stop further to Chinatown (Stop: Pasar Seni) and the Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur Chinatown is right there.
As such, several months ago, I did some travelling – mostly with a close girl friend, and hopped around these hotels in KL. And for a part of the stay, an extra friend joined in, making it three of us…. adults.
Said friend actually had a baby, so that makes it FOUR.
Needing space to accomodate the kid plus us three ladies – who require much time to catch up and lounge somewhere comfortable – this is where Hilton Kuala Lumpur’s Grand Executive Suite comes in.

Hilton: Gold Status with American Express
As a holder of the American Express Platinum Charge card, as part of the card’s benefits, I hold elite statuses in four major hotel chains, of which the Elite Gold status in the Hilton Honors programme is my favourite.
Gold members receive complimentary room upgrades up to the Executive level (subject to availability), earn bonus points with stays, and get complimentary breakfast thrown in on top of that. Here, breakfast is the most valuable perk; Hilton always does it so well and I’m super grateful that I get to have it as part of the Gold members perks.
Off the elevator, and heading to our room

Entering the room was like stepping into a land of WOW.
We are definitely happy to be here for the next 3 days.
Living room area – View from Entrance
Toilet was right by the entrace.
Adorned in marble, no less
As there were three adults (and one baby), we decided that two people would use the king bed in the main bedroom (baby got a cot), and we requested for an extra bed.
Honestly, the living room already looked comfortable enough for all 3 of us to sleep in.
Space wise – this was extremely generous. The Grand Executive Suite is 89 square meters – so there are separate areas for the living room, workspace, bedrooms, and two bathrooms.
Living room area – with door leading to workspace area and main bedroom
Head down a little further and there’s a neat little enclosure with a workdesk and chair. And a surprise on the left.
Walk-in Closet door on the left, Workdesk on the right
For those who must work while on vacation
Directly behind the workspace, is this:
Door to walk-in closet
Absolutely loved the walk-in closet. It’s large and functional – with rods for hanging and shelving for stuff, completed with drawers and a large mirrors.
I wish I had this at home.
You know it’s luxury when the storage here is more than double your own cupboard at home
And then, we head to the main bedroom.
~ Bedroom, Bathroom
Oh, did I mention, we were going to surprise our extra friend for her birthday?
Entrance to the Bedroom
Pro tip – when booking a stay, and IF there is a special occasion (birthday, anniversary, promotion, etc) – mention it in the comments section of the booking! You never know what will happen. In our case, the staff happily left us some balloons and animal towels.
Hilton Serenity Bed with Feather Down Pillows
The main bedroom here beckons an adjoining bathroom with a luxurious bathtub…
Spot the sliding doors leading to the bathroom
… with a marble finishing, of course.
Love the little shelving area behind the bathtub
In fact, all three of us ladies agreed that the bathroom is our favourite part of the Grand Executive Suite – the layout is so good, with double sinks, a clear separated area for shower and a toilet… we ended up scheduling our bathroom usage time to prevent excessive hogging.
Also: double sink, shower, toilet (behind closed door)
Even the mirror impressed us

Executive Lounge
As guests staying in the Grand Executive Suite, we were given access to the lounge. Located on the Executive Floor – level 33 of Hilton Kuala Lumpur, the Executive Lounge is opened daily from 6am to 11pm.
Specifically, meal times at the lounge are as follows:
- Breakfast: 6:00am to 10:00am (weekdays), and 6.30am to 11:00am (weekends)
- Afternoon Tea: Daily from 2.30pm to 4.30pm
- Evening Aperitifs: Daily from 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Executive Lounge
I’ve written extensively about the Executive Lounge before – when I last stayed in the Executive King room (do read this for a VERY detailed outline of the Executive Lounge experience) and despite it being a few years ago, very little has actually changed since then.
Breakfast still has the made-to-order egg station and a display of beautiful pastries.
Breakfast at the Lounge: Eggs Benedict
Buffet Breakfast at Level 1 on Vasco’s is also a possibility – I’ve written about that twice – once several years ago, when I stayed at the King Deluxe Plus room. And the second time, for a more recent experience of the buffet breakfast, do read my review of the Twin Deluxe room where I stayed and have had breakfast at Vasco’s again.
Raspberry Cruffin from the lounge
Midday sees a beautiful selection of Afternoon Tea and small bites.
Afternoon Tea
Though, honestly, it is practically more of a meal, and less of a tea.
Where mini sandwiches are all the rage
We loved the Afternoon Tea here, and spent a whole afternoon here, just chilling and hanging out – and that included my friend’s baby (children are allowed at the lounge but must be accompanied with a parent).
Probably the 4th or 5th serving
And of course, dinner time – which many choose to interpret as ‘drinking time’.
Great selection of alcohol
There would be a table of warm food options, some salads, and desserts to go around.
Usually a fried rice or noodle, chicken wings or similar, and garlic bread
Salad bar
Desserts, Malay Kuih, and Fruits
Swimming Pool and Gym
Word of advice: one MUST come to the pool here. Do not give it a miss – this is one of the nicest (if not THE nicest) pools you can find in Kuala Lumpur.
Spot the slide and waterfall
The pool is jointly shared between Hilton Kuala Lumpur and Le Meridien. It’s a nice, meandering way with a slide and waterfall area in the middle, and a kiddy pool at one end.
Feels like it never ends
For those with families, the pool alone is a compelling enough reason to stay here – it is THAT good.
Super clear waters
Shallow end for kids
Right next to the pool is the 24 hour gym and spa.
Loads of equipment
Bonus: a very nice changing room.
Vanity and locker area
Overall Thoughts
Truly, Hilton Kuala Lumpur deserves its reputation as a five-star hotel – the service is highly impressive, the facilites are top notch, and the overall experience is just wonderful.
As far as rates goes, I’ve seen the Grand Executive Suite go for between RM850 to RM1200 range most of the time, depending on the timing and how early one book. For Singaporeans, this is a real steal when one considers the exchange rate from MYR to SGD.
100% recommended, and 10/10 would return given the change.
