2021 started with a series of changes to the Love Dining programme. In fact my first post in 2021 was about the departure of some places, and my previous one reported that Basilico at Regent hotel had joined in. Great news – two more hotels, the Fullerton and Fullerton Bay, from January 2021 onwards, will offer love dining benefits.

Fullerton Bay Hotel joins Love Dining

Entering the Love Dining programme are:

  • La Brasserie (French)
  • The Lantern (International)
  • The Landing Point (International)

All three places accept Love Dining benefits on the A La Carte menu only.

My original guide for Love Dining in Hotels has also been amended to reflect the changes and both the Fullerton hotels have been added to the guide.

Not to be confused with the Fullerton Bay hotel, this historic landmark used to be the General Post Office in Singapore, and the building was declared a conservation building by the Singapore government in 1997.

The new hotel restaurants joining Love Dining are:

  • Jade (Cantonese)
  • Town Restaurant (International)
  • The Courtyard (International)

Again, all three places accept Love Dining benefits on the A La Carte menu only.

My original guide for Love Dining in Hotels has also been amended to reflect the changes and both the Fullerton hotels have been added to the guide.

I’ve also had a staycation at the Fullerton hotel before (and used my AMEX hotel credits of SGD400 to offset the cost) – so do check that out if you’re keen.

New Restaurants enter Love Dining

More great news – a number of new restaurants have also joined in, and they are:

  • Indocafe: The White House – Authentic Peranakan Cuisine (35 Scotts Road)
  • Fremantle Seafood Market – Western, Seafood (3E River Valley Road, #01-05/6)
  • RENNThai: Thai Cuisine – (3D River Valley Road, #01-05 Block D)
  • Hot Stones Steak and Seafood Restaurant – Grilled Steak (3D River Valley Road, #01-06 Block D)
  • Hutong  – Northern Chinese Cuisine (3D River Valley Road, #01-07 Block D)
  • Vineyard at HortPark – Western, French/Italian (33 Hyderabad Road, #02-02 Hort Park)

I’m definitely looking forward to try some of these places. Of course, any place that I visit and review will be updated on this blog.

Capitol Kempinski exits Love Dining

In some rather sad news, from 15th January 2021 onwards, the Capitol Kempinski hotel will no longer offer Love Dining benefits.

Restaurants outside the Capitol Kempinski Hotel

I was quite sad about this – previously, I had dined in at both Frieda (German) and El Teatro Tapas (Spanish) under Love Dining, and both these places were very good. In fact I had the Italian restaurant, La Scala Ristorante as a wishlist place in 2021, so it was disappointing that it’s no longer part of the programme.

Love Dining Benefits

I’ve said it multiple times – the Love Dining programme is (in my humble opinion) the best way to dine at a discount in hotels and other reputable dining establishments.

All that’s needed is a qualifying American Express credit card – for example, the Amex Platinum Charge Card.

The discount structure works as such:

  • 1 diner: cardholder alone – 15% off
  • 2 diners: 1 cardholder + 1 other – 50% off
  • 3 diners: 1 cardholder + 2 others – 33% off
  • 4 diners: 1 cardholder + 3 others – 25% off
  • 5 or more diners (Hotel category) 1 cardolder + 4-9 others – 20% off*
  • 5 or more diners (Restaurant category) 1 cardolder + 4-19 others (20% off)*

For more information and the entire list of participating places, I’ve compiled the restaurant dining guide and the hotel dining guide.

It’s not just about the discounts – the listed places are pretty awesome. In fact in my own personal Love Dining dining experiences, most of the time I’ve been either wowed by the places or they have just exceeded expectations.

For that, I am truly grateful that American Express has this programme, and I’ll be checking out as many of these places as possible in 2021.
