Harry’s Review

Harry’s is Singapore’s largest chain of bar and dining type establishment. They are known for their Western fare and classic bar grubs, and is hugely popular among the local crowd.

For this Harry’s Review, with two different close friends, I’ve made TWO visitations in separate locations – one at the Cuppage Plaza branch, and another at Anguilla Park.

American Express Love Dining benefits

As usual, sometimes I’ll head here because of the American Express Love Dining programme. It gives diners a 50% discount when two adults dine in.

Old-time visitors to the blog know this: I am a huge fan of the Amex Love Dining programme. There’s a number of American Express credit cards that provide Love Dining privileges. Namely, the Platinum Credit Card, the Platinum Reserve Credit Card, and the Platinum Charge card. My personal favourite is the Platinum Charge card, thanks to a whole host of other benefits it offers.

Harry’s Review at Cuppage Plaza

The outlet at Cuppage plaza has both indoor and outdoor seating, with the indoor having both bar-style high chairs and lower chairs.

Harry’s at Cuppage Plaza – Indoor

Outdoors, the dining is meant to give al fresco vibes. Which can be cool especially in the evenings. Unfortunately, with Singapore’s diabolical heat, outdoor dining pre-sunset feels more like al crispy.

The friend and I sat down and glanced through the menu.

Menu – mostly bar bites and Western mains

It is said that Great Minds Think Alike, and Fools Seldom Differ. That day, the both of us felt like eating the same thing, and so we did.

Dry-Rubbed Baby Back Ribs

These baby back ribs were alright overall. While the sauce was just the right amount of tangy, the ribs were a little on the tough side, and not as soft as we hoped. They weren’t hard exactly but they weren’t meat-fall-off-the-bone kind of soft.

However, one major plus point was that food did arrive super quickly (about 5 mins after ordering) so the speed may appeal to those in a lunch-hour rush.

That day, as my friend and I were both pressed for time, that was all we had. The food wasn’t spectacular, but it was ribs and we did leave feeling sufficiently satisfied.

Harry’s Review at Anguilla Park

A few months later, in a separate occasion, another friend and I were craving for Western food again and this time we headed to the Anguilla Park outlet.

Jazz Burger

The friend ordered the Jazz Burger. Juicy Wagyu beef patty, bacon, double cheese, button mushrooms, and onion jam came stacked together between burger buns.

The meat patty was above average – juicy and well-prepared. Great for the days that you want a good quick burger for a reasonable price.

Thick Wagyu beef patty. Mmm.

Myself, I ordered the Fish and Chips.

Fish and Chips

Fish and Chips is literally one of the most idiot-proof things one can order from a Western menu – it’s deep fried, usually tasty, and satisfying on some level. Granted, some places do Fish and Chips better than others. The ones here again, weren’t super impressive but its above average. The beer-battered crust is crispy and lovely in itself, and it does the job of giving you a fairly good Fish and Chips experience – does that make sense?

Served with peas, coleslaw, and spiced fries

We also ordered the Signature Wings Platter to share. Great for 2-3 pax to share, the platter has 4 pieces of Harry’s signature spice (mild spice), 4 pieces of Sriracha Buffalo (really spicy), and 4 pieces in a Soy-Glazed (non-spicy) flavouring.

We loved the variety. The wings aren’t very tender, but flavourful enough. If you like spicy wings, the Sriracha ones give a good kick. It’s also possible to order a half-dozen or full-dozen of any one flavour – so the flexible customization is definitely a plus point here.

Service here was efficient, the staff were friendly, and we had no compliants. For this Harry’s review, I can generally vouch for positive vibes, and no regrets dining out at these two outlets.
