Shangri-la Jade: retain Circle’s elite Jade status with ONE stay, dining, or other qualifying experience

Shangri-La Jade – Circle Membership

Shangri-La’s hotel loyalty programme, known as Shangri-La Circle, has four tiers.

Membership Benefits

Typically, there are four tiers to Shangri-La Circle benefits.

Gold: Received upon joining

Enjoy a range of complimentary benefits as soon as you enrol in the Shangri-La circle programme. Anyone can sign up for it, and it is free.

Jade: Unlock with either 20 nights or 6,000 tier points

Some key benefits include:

• Early check-in at 11am / late check-out at 4pm, subject to availability.
• Room upgrade within the same category (standard vs club room), subject to availability
• Welcome amenities: choice of three amenities. Choose from: fresh fruit, chocolates, cookies and milk, cup noodles, and beer
• Complimentary daily breakfast
• 25% more points for every USD 1 spent

Diamond: Unlock with either 15 nights or 15,000 tier points

Some key benefits include:

• Lounge Access with Guest
• Early check-in at 8am / late check-out at 6pm, subject to availability
• Room upgrade within the same category (standard vs club room), subject to availability
• Complimentary daily breakfast
• 50% more points for every USD 1 spent

Polaris: By Invitation Only

Some key benefits include:

• Check in anytime on scheduled day of arrival (subject to availability)
• Room upgrade benefits
• Luxury car service, complimentary during Shangri-la stay
• Gift diamond status: nominate a family member to be a diamond member
• Polaris Concierge: personalised management of Polaris members’ requests and enquiries during Shangri-La stay.

Jade Members: Renew status with ONE stay or experience

I have received Shangri-La elite Jade status in 2019 thanks to the American Express Platinum Charge Card.

However, around April 2021, American Express dropped Shangri-La Jade status for Platinum Charge Card members. It was instead replaced with DISCOVERY membership.

Personally, my Shangri-La Jade elite status  was supposed to have expired already; however, due to COVID19, it was extended to the end of 2022.

Just as I was expecting to lose the Jade status again, Shangri-La sends out this email:

How to renew Shangri-La Jade elite status

According to the email, to retain Shangri-La Jade elite status, members have to do either ONE of the following between 15th October 2022 to 15th December 2022.

• Stay one Qualifying Night. (these are room nights booked under Qualifying Room Rates which will count towards qualification for the renewal of the current tier of the member’s Shangri-La Circle membership status).
• Dine at one of Shangri-La’s restaurants or bars.
• Make one qualifying purchase at the Shangri-La Online Boutique. Members must spend a minimum of USD1 equivalent and order must be successfully delivered or picked up by 15 December 2022.

To ensure that stays or purchases are counted towards qualification for Shangri-La Jade elite status renewal, do quote your membership number when making reservations or dining. If purchasing something from the Shangri-La Online Boutique, ensure that you sign into your Shangri-La Circle account before making the purchase itself.

Members will receive an email notification upon qualification for the Status Renewal before end of December 2022.

Moving Forward

I’m definitely going to renew this one. I’ve always loved visiting Shangri-La. I’ve had wonderful memories of the High Tea at Rose Veranda at Shangri-La Singapore, and often think fondly about our last family-friendly staycation at Shangri-La Singapore.

Now, with travel possibilities opening up again, I’m happy to annouce that in the earlier part of 2023, we will be heading to Penang, and will be staying at Shangri-La Golden Sands there, as well as at JEN Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La (Stay tuned for that). As such, this generous offer to easily renew the Shangri-La Jade membership couldn’t have come at a better time.
