Love Dining @ Restaurants

The Love Dining programme is one of the coolest discounted dining programmes I’ve come across in Singapore. Love Dining perks comes with ownership of one of the following American Express credit cards:

  • The Platinum Card (also known as the Platinum Charge card)
  • The Platinum Credit Credit card
  • The Platinum Reserve card
  • The Centurion card

My personal favourite credit card is the American Express Platinum Charge card, for it truly has amazing dining, hotel, travel, and other lifestyle benefits.

(I have also written separately about the *Hotel Dining* Guide version for the American Express Love Dining Programme.)

Benefits Explained

Card holders can receive up to 50% discount when they (i) Dine at participating restaurants, and (ii) Each diner orders at least one qualifying item from the menu. E.g. if there are two diners, there should order a total of two qualifying items.

The total discount varies depending on the number of diners

* Note: the benefits for AMEX Love Dining in Restaurants (up to 20 pax) are slighty different than the benefits for AMEX Love Dining in Hotels (up to 10 pax only)

In Summary, the Benefits are as follows:

  • 1 diner: cardholder alone – 15% off
  • 2 diners: 1 cardholder + 1 other – 50% off
  • 3 diners: 1 cardholder + 2 others – 33% off
  • 4 diners: 1 cardholder + 3 others – 25% off
  • 5 or more diners (Hotel category) 1 cardolder + 4-9 others – 20% off*
  • 5 or more diners (Restaurant category) 1 cardolder + 4-19 others (20% off)*

*Long-time owners of American Express may recall that in the past, the love dining benefits only accomodated up to 10 people per visit. However, in January 2020 – American Express amended the terms and conditions so that a party of up to 20 people can enjoy the benefits.

Do note that this allowance of up to 20 people only applies to Restaurants. For participating Hotels, the benefits still extends only to a maximum of 10 people.

Blackout Dates for All Restaurants

  • Eve of Public Holidays and Public Holidays
  • Special Occasions: Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day
  • Additional Blackout Dates for All Chinese Restaurants: Eve of Chinese New Year, and 15 Days of Chinese New Year

Note on Child Dining Policy

À la Carte and Set Menu

Only children aged 7 and above are counted as 1 adult diner. Children aged between 1-6 years old are counted according to the communal dining concept:
2 children = 1 adult headcount,
3-4 children = 2 adult headcount.

Buffet

Children’s dining policy applies and varies across different buffet restaurants. For each restaurant’s children’s dining policy, kindly contact the outlet for the most up-to-date information.

Participating Restaurants in the Love Dining Programme

American Express has divided the restaurant types into five broad categories: Asian, International, Western, Italian, and Contemporary.

Departed from Love Dining

It is worth mentioning that a number of previous participants of the Love Dining programme have departed and will no longer offer Love Dining benefits. Some of these places (those that I have kept track of) are:

(I might have missed a few over the years – if anyone knows, let me know via my instagram handle and I will be happy to add them to this list).

Lovely Panna Cotta from previous Love Dining partner – Burlamacco Ristorante. So sad that this place isn’t part of Love Dining anymore

General Thoughts: American Express Love Dining

This is my favourite dining programme in Singapore – you literally cannot rival a 50% off deal when two adults dine in. The programme has been a game changer for 1-on-1 dates with a husband or close friend. It has made dates with my husband at fancy places more afforadable, and I’ve wined and dined with friends at places that we might not have visited – if it weren’t for the American Express Love Dining discounts.

I highly recommend it to anyone who loves good food – do check out my referral links below as bonus Membership Reward points or miles can be earned when you apply via my referral links.
